Fulbeck Workshops
Join Caroline, your expert teacher, at the Fulbeck Craft Centre for one of The Book Rescuer's Club workshops.
There has been a craft centre in the Stables at Fulbeck Manor for over 30 years. In March 2022 the craft centre was refurbished and relaunched to be known as Fulbeck Craft Centre. The overriding ethos at the centre is: promoting craft, craft production and artisanal skills in an ethical and environmentally responsible way, and I am delighted to be supported by Fulbeck Craft Centre and The Craftier Cafe to hold The Book Rescuer's Club workshops.
Fulbeck Meeting Room Access:
- Workshop classes take place in the meeting room above The Craftier Cafe, and is located on the first floor, accessed via a single flight of stairs. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building there is no level access to the workshop space.
- Access to the meeting room is available from 10:00am when The Craftier Cafe opens.
Fulbeck Workshop Courses Include:
- Expert tuition from me as a professionally trained traditional bookbinder and restorer (see 'Meet the Book Professional' page).
- A high quality bookbinders kit of containing carefully selected bookbinding tools and materials (content depending on the workshop) supplied by Learn Bookbinding for you to use and keep.
- Additional sundries, materials and tools provided by me (content depending on the workshop), including an apron for you to use and keep.
- 3-course lunch and drink provided by The Craftier Cafe for each workshop session (dietary needs can be catered for, please let me know when you book).
- Tea and coffee supplied throughout the sessions.
- Workshop 'Hints and Tips Guide' created for each course.
- 10% discount for students in The Old Coach House Store which stocks locally sourced gifts and items (on Fulbeck Craft Centre site)
What Book To Bring to Fulbeck Workshops:
- Bring an A4 size book or smaller, as it will greatly help whilst you are learning how to carry out repairs, and give you the best opportunity to complete your project in the time we have, enabling you to get the most from your workshop.
*For the Novice Repair Workshops, please bring a cloth or paper covered book or a selection of books to choose from with my guidance if you are not sure which one to repair in the workshop (please don't bring leather bound books, as the repair of these types of covered books require more specialist tools, skills and knowledge that will not be covered in the Novice Repair Workshops).
Workshop Student Guidelines:
- Workshops are only suitable for anyone aged over 18, as craft knives are part of the kits being purchased and supplied, and will be essential for taking part in the courses.
- Students must read and agree to The Book Rescuer's Club Workshop Terms and Conditions at the time of booking.
